R. L. RIDER REMODELING’S THREE-YEAR WARRANTY
A huge part of being Lansing’s premier design/build remodeler is standing behind and guaranteeing our quality of work and materials. It’s about our clients being taken care of without having to jump through hoops. It’s about building trust and lifelong relationships so that every customer feels peace of mind long after the R. L. Rider Remodeling crew has left the jobsite. It’s about not feeling tricked or being taken advantage of by fine print when an issue does arise. That’s why we warranty materials and workmanship for a full two years after project completion – and make it painless to submit a warranty claim.
While we always strive for perfection on every job, it is sometimes unavoidable that something doesn’t quite go according to plan. We’ve found over the years that 99% of homeowner’s frustration isn’t with the problem itself, but poor handling of the issue and length of time it takes to get fixed. R. L. Rider Remodeling puts serious emphasis on warranty work on the rare occasions we have a call back. Providing a satisfactory, frustration-free resolution requires prioritizing your warranty issue on our schedule and repairing the issue quickly and efficiently. We do both, and we will check in with you once the job is complete to make sure everything is up to your standards.
In addition to our three-year warranty, we also pass along the manufacturer warranties for each product installed in your home. Unfortunately, our warranty does not cover products the homeowner supplies themselves as we have no control of the sourcing or quality of those materials. We always recommend using our suppliers, so you support local businesses and know exactly what you’re getting is covered. We also offer labor for re-installation if a product is deemed faulty and needing replacement. Most warranties will just cover the cost of the material, not the actual swap out and clean-up labor which is an additional charge. R. L. Rider Remodeling felt that was dishonest and not the true intent of a warranty, so we put our policy in place to combat that.
Sometimes companies make amazing guarantees and go over the top with their warranty. What sounds great from the salesman often turns into a “too good to be true” situation when the time comes to address a problem. We’ve seen offers for “lifetime, owner-transferable warranties” and “10-year, unlimited warranties” that look so good stamped on the last page of the contract but offer much less coverage with much more hassle than R. L. Rider Remodeling’s three-year warranty.
A good illustration of this comes from a client who shared with us his recent experience with a large, nationwide supplier for composite decking material. The composite decking had an all-encompassing warranty that covered against everything traditional lumber is subject to – warping, molding, peeling, etc. Guess what happened a few years down the road, yet well within the coverage period? The composite material was warping left and right, and mold was growing despite the supposed resistance and regular cleaning. After plenty of “on-hold” time with their support line and filling out forms in triplicate, the customer was informed a warranty check was cut to cover the current value of the deck. Imagine his frustration when the “current value” was prorated to a tiny percentage of the original installation and he was stuck with a rotten deck and a check for $150!
We’ve also heard horror stories about national electronic chains and other retailers. It’s the same story, pay x amount per month for total coverage on your new phone or tablet or whatever – if it gets damaged they will replace it for free, no questions asked. If you’ve ever tried to claim on one of these, you probably know what happens next. Hours of time spent on the phone, a million workarounds, an “easy” 19-step process, months of waiting, and then finally you end up with a refurbished version of your original item.
The point is we offer the complete opposite experience as these companies. We want to make every customer we have a client and believer for life. To earn that trust, our warranty policy is simple – we will do everything possible to correct any issue you have within two years of project wrap. Absolute zero run-arounds, arguments, and stress is our guarantee if you ever need warranty work from R. L. Rider Remodeling. This is not lip service to sell you anything because every project we perform includes the warranty automatically! We are here to take care of you and make sure every aspect of your home is exactly how you want it.
